Roy Cheung
Trained at the University of Surrey under the prestigious BSc Tonmeister degree, Roy graduated with First Honour and was awarded the Dave Fisher Classical Recording Prize for a contemporary recording made with the Quest Ensemble (UK). He has previously worked in multiple locations in the United Kingdom, including the Guilhall School of Music and Drama, Barbican Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall and St John’s Smith Square.
After working with Grammy-award winning producer Phil Rowlands, recording the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (the Gramophone Orchestra of the Year 2019) performing Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, he has since been producing many concerts recordings and videos with the orchestra, including Beethoven Symphony No. 7 conducted by Maestro Jaap van Zweden and Sibelius Symphony No. 2 with Maestro Lio Kuokman. He has also been working with renowned engineer Raymond Lo, engineering recordings for orchestras and chamber ensembles in Hong Kong.
Throughout his career, he has also recorded and produced commercial releases, including Niu Niu: Beethoven Fate and Hope, Mahler (arr. Riderelli) – Symphony No.1: Ensemble Omnia Hong Kong and Brahms Piano Quartet No. 1 with Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra Chamber Ensemble.
